In the past I thought that blogs were silly. I simply viewed them as online outlets for people to complain about their lives in hopes of a few sympathetic comments. Since I did not have the need to do that, I determined that I would probably never create one. But after following some blogs that belonged to my friends and family members, and seeing how well they could convey their thoughts about meaningful life experiences, and seeing how useful and exciting the exchange of these stories were, I have decided to give it a shot.
I'd like for this blog to be an open conversation with my family, friends, and any curious guest about life, culture, religion, history, books, music, art, current events, world views, food, scripture, movies, poetry, theology and anything worth discussing. I have many ideas on many topics, and rather than share them openly on a large network like facebook, I want to share them with a close and respected few who will not scrutinize me or my ideas, but constructively discuss them with me. So tell me if you agree or disagree. Tell me if you like it or you don't. Tell me about your ideas. Tell me about where you've been and where you're going. Just tell me what you think about life as I tell you what I think.
Can I admit something to you? Okay, here it is: I love poetry. Seriously. It's ironic, actually, because I am a musician, but I'm awful at coming up with melodies on my own. But I love to write lyrics. So I write them as poems--songs with no notes. They are songs about my travels-- the travels of life, in which, I am always observing and wondering and appreciating and seeking. I've always wanted to share some of the poems I've written and see what people think about them. I have to say that I'm a little nervous about posting them, but I trust you! I want to hear your feedback about them, and if you want to make some editions to them, please feel free.
So, then, let the conversation begin.
This is a great idea Trey. I think the majority of songs are just poems set to music. Maybe you could find someone that writes music with no words and collaborate. Sometimes I have words, thoughts, ideas swimming around in my brain. I hope this inspires me to write them down!
